Our company - Our history
It all started a long time ago in 1990 when Gerhard Schmid founded the G. Schmid GmbH as a family-run company in Bissingen a. d. Teck in Swabia in Southwest Germany. His many years of experience in plastic technology and in the building of moulds enabled the company, in the shortest time, to win renowned companies as customers and to convince them of the quality and the experience. In the meantime more than 60 employees, including engineers, commercial staff, installation technicians and apprentices all pursue one common goal: The satisfaction of our customers.
The current production programme comprises the manufacture of injection moulding tools and the injection moulding of all thermoplastics as well as assembly and mounting jobs. We can naturally offer you individual packaging and logistic solutions. Particularly worth mentioning are the manufacturing possibilities in the 2-C sector.
Our customers mainly operate in the automotive, electronic and medicinal sectors. Some of our best known customers are, for example, Audi, Continental, ifm and Märklin. But companies such as Bentley, BMW, Daimler, Ford, GM, Mazda, Porsche, PSA, Reger Medizintechnik, Renault, Tyco and Volkswagen also used plastic components manufactured by us.
In our company a highest level of flexibility and quality with respect to consulting, planning, realisation and documentation is united with substantial, practice oriented technical knowledge gained from many projects in plastic technology.
In the year 2002 our Quality Management System according to ISO 9001 was certified for the first time by the TÜV SÜD. The permanent education and training of our employees, and the continuous improvement of our quality standards is a matter of course for us.
Due to the sustained order situation, in 2007 we started to build a Production facility in order to gain space for our increasingly large machine park.
A significant addition to the machine park occurred in 2012 with a 220 ton injection moulding machine Arburg ALLROUNDER 570 S (2C), which is why we increased our space with an adjoining warehouse.
In 2018, the company building was extended, which made it possible to realize a new finished parts warehouse.
In 2021, we added a new Arburg ALLROUNDER 570 C to our machine park. In 2023, another Arburg ALLROUNDER 520 S with a 6-axis robot will also be integrated into the machine park.
In addition we are a recognised training company for the Chamber of Commerce for the profession as a process mechanic for plastic technology and industrial management assistant.
